The UK have 3 months until the reform of the IR35 legislation. It had originally been due to come into force back in April 2020, but the Government pushed it back a year to 6 April 2021.
Whilst we must continue to respond to Covid-19 challenges as well as prepare for our exit out of the EU, we must also keep on with preparations for the IR35 reforms, which focus on the private sector.
As a reminder, the IR35 reform is about the relationship between the contractor and the employer. Specifically, whether it could in anyway resemble that of an employee, and if so, then you need to consider whether you should deduct tax and national insurance at source.
We recommended that you conduct an audit of your contractor workforce if you have not already done so. You can also listen to a webinar that we ran last year, called IR35: Overview and HR Implications.
